My then 9 year old kitty started vomiting once in awhile last summer and the frequency increased to almost every day by October/November, usually after eating breakfast. She was always about 12 lbs and had lost about 1-1.5 lbs over the course of several months. The vet suspected she had Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and put her on Prednisolone. She wanted to switch her to a Hill’s Prescription food which we were not ok with. Hill’s uses a lot of fillers that have no nutritional value.
I contacted my friend up in IL who owns a pet wellness store. She said we should discontinue dry kibble right away and only feed a high quality wet food, and also to order the Feline Gut Soothe. We ,were already feeding our two cats high quality half dry (Fromm grain free) half wet food (BFF & Tiki Cat), and I have since decreased the dry kibble even further, only about 1 tablespoon per meal for each and the rest wet. We just can not afford to completely eliminate the dry right now or it would cost a fortune. We have 3 dogs also and one just had a very expensive CT scan & surgery.
I started the Feline Gut Soothe right away, mixing it into her wet pate food, and never once has she stopped to sniff or hesitate eating it. Thankfully she is a great eater. She was getting Prednisolone 1x/day also. After 1-2 weeks I started spreading out the medication further and further, from everyday to every other day and eventually getting to every 5 days with no vomiting so the vet said I could discontinue the steroid. It’s been about a month without any Prednisolone, and only the Feline Gut Soothe and decreased kibble, and she’s doing well. She has vomited twice in that month, about a week apart, so we are hopeful this will work for her. She has put on a little bit of weight and just turned 10. I know this is long but wanted to share our experience to help someone in similar situation.
I do wish this product was a little more reasonable or had lower shipping costs. It’s a little tiny, lightweight jar that is shipping from Montana so $10 seems high in addition to the $29.99. I’d love to give it to both cats but then I’d be buying it every 30 days instead of 60. I may use something less expensive for other kitty since she doesn’t have any issues.
