Multi Strain Probiotic Blend

Probiotics enhance the immune response of the digestive tract. Lactic acid bacteria produce lactic acid which inhibits yeast growth by lowering intestinal pH and blocks the receptors or adhesion sites of pathogens, creating a barrier against infectious organisms. 15 billion allergen-free CFU (colony forming units) to defend against harmful gut bacteria by repopulating the digestive system with friendly bacteria.

Slippery Elm Bark

For hundreds of years, Native Americans have used Slippery Elm Bark for its beneficial and soothing properties. Slippery Elm is a large, deciduous tree native to Eastern North America known for its mucilaginous, strengthening, and nutritive properties. Slippery elm is a master demulcent. It exerts a soothing effect on mucous membranes of digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. It is also used for protecting against stomach and duodenal ulcers, for colitis, diverticulitis, GI inflammation and acidity.

L-Glutamine Amino Acid

A component of healthy connective tissue and mucous membranes, it supports healthy mucous membranes and linings in the respiratory and digestive tracts, nutritionally supports healthy digestion and is indicated for leaky gut management. L-Glutamine is an amino acid that is essential in the healing of leaky gut. It supports the strength of the mucosal lining and the proper functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and acts as a protector against the irritants that cause inflammation.

Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice

Licorice root, which is considered one of the world’s oldest herbal remedies, comes from the root of the licorice plant. Licorice Root/DGL is a form of licorice that is safe for those with high blood pressure as it has the glycyrrhizin constituent removed. It benefits gastric mucosa by improving circulation, secretion of protective layer, and supporting growth of new mucosal cells.

Larch Arabinogalactan

Prebiotic Larch Arabinogalactan is a Larch tree extract that supports colon health. It is often used as an effective adjunct to cancer therapies due to its ability to stimulate the immune system and block metastasis of tumor cells. Its uses in people include chronic fatigue syndrome, viral hepatitis, HIV/ AIDS, and autoimmune diseases. It is also commonly used for infections.

Marshmallow Root

Althaea officinalis, or Marshmallow Root, is in the mucilage-heavy Malvaceae family and is an herbaceous perennial that can be found growing alongside marshes, seas, riverbanks, and other equally damp areas. Known throughout the ancient Egyptian, Arab, Greek, and Roman cultures, this herb has been used continually for at least 2000 years. In traditional practices it was given to soothe and moisten mucous membranes of the respiratory, digestive, and urinary tracts.

Working Well So Far

My then 9 year old kitty started vomiting once in awhile last summer and the frequency increased to almost every day by October/November, usually after eating breakfast. She was always about 12 lbs and had lost about 1-1.5 lbs over the course of several months. The vet suspected she had Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and put her on Prednisolone. She wanted to switch her to a Hill’s Prescription food which we were not ok with. Hill’s uses a lot of fillers that have no nutritional value. I contacted my friend up in IL who owns a pet wellness store. She said we should discontinue dry kibble right away and only feed a high quality wet food, and also to order the Feline Gut Soothe. We ,were already feeding our two cats high quality half dry (Fromm grain free) half wet food (BFF & Tiki Cat), and I have since decreased the dry kibble even further, only about 1 tablespoon per meal for each and the rest wet. We just can not afford to completely eliminate the dry right now or it would cost a fortune. We have 3 dogs also and one just had a very expensive CT scan & surgery. I started the Feline Gut Soothe right away, mixing it into her wet pate food, and never once has she stopped to sniff or hesitate eating it. Thankfully she is a great eater. She was getting Prednisolone 1x/day also. After 1-2 weeks I started spreading out the medication further and further, from everyday to every other day and eventually getting to every 5 days with no vomiting so the vet said I could discontinue the steroid. It’s been about a month without any Prednisolone, and only the Feline Gut Soothe and decreased kibble, and she’s doing well. She has vomited twice in that month, about a week apart, so we are hopeful this will work for her. She has put on a little bit of weight and just turned 10. I know this is long but wanted to share our experience to help someone in similar situation. I do wish this product was a little more reasonable or had lower shipping costs. It’s a little tiny, lightweight jar that is shipping from Montana so $10 seems high in addition to the $29.99. I’d love to give it to both cats but then I’d be buying it every 30 days instead of 60. I may use something less expensive for other kitty since she doesn’t have any issues.
